A Kaleidoscope of Musical Diversity

Join us this fall and discover for yourself what all the excitement is about.

The Pilgrim Players' 10th Anniversary season presents music of great range and depth written by a wide array of composers for varied combinations of instruments - quintets, quartets, trios, duos, solo flute and even a sextet of Johann Strauss' well-known Kaiser Waltz arranged by Arnold Schoenberg. Join us for three diverse Quintets including Rimsky-Korsakov's Quintet for piano and winds; Osvaldo Golijov's Klezmer clarinet quintet with strings, and Paquito D'Rivera's Aires Tropicales for wind quintet.

Outstanding Quartets include Alexander Borodin's famous string Quartet in D major, Gabriel Faure's beautiful Piano Quartet in C minor, Maurice Ravel's colorful Chansons madescasses for flute, cello, piano and voice performed with the outstanding soprano Julia Bentley, Mozart's seldom performed Quartet Op. 79 for clarinet and strings and finally, wonderful songs by George Gershwin arranged for string quartet.

A myriad of trios include a Trio by George Auric, one of the French Les Six composers of the 1920's, Sonatine for flute, clarinet and piano by the French composer Florent Schmitt composed in 1935, the mysterious Rhapsody No. 1 by the American Impressinoist composer Charles Martin Loeffler, William Bolcom's rags from Afternoon Cakewalk in an original arrangement for violin, clarinet and piano and Shulamit Ran's poignant Soliloquy for piano trio. There will also be Duos by Bloch, Piazzolla, Draganski, Milhaud and Villa-Lobos and an exceptional Solo flute work, East Wind by Shulamit Ran, performed by Pilgrim Chamber Players' flutist Anita Rieder.

We look forward to sharing our 2006-2007 musical performances with you.
